March 8 marks International Women’s Day, an observance of both awareness and celebration.
This year the theme picked by the United Nations was “Gender Equality for a Sustainable Tomorrow.” Women strive to have a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. We celebrate this day to bring awareness of the gender inequality between men and women, along with celebrating the social, cultural and political achievements by women.
First celebrated in 1911 in some European countries, it wasn’t made official till 1975 in the United States. In 2014 International Women’s Day was celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world.
Now this day is taken in to show how far society and women have come along with the changes that still need to be made.
