Government litigant

  • Genaro Bautista v. County of Riverside (5:24-cv-01658): Civil Rights Act. California Central District Judge Jesus Bernal presides.
    • Bautista sues Riverside on claims that he was improperly arrested after police mistook him for a man he hired to serve an eviction notice. The man was armed when he served the notice.
  • Johnathan Cain v. City of Yucaipa (5:24-cv-01682): Civil Rights Act. California Central District Judge Kenly Kato presides.
    • Cain sues for unlawful seizure and arrest, arguing that he was arrested without due cause after being pulled over for an unilluminated license plate. His complaint says police were focused on an unrelated gun charge from 2011.
  • Christopher D. Sawyer v. Riverside County (5:24-cv-01683): Civil Rights Act. California Central District Judge Sunshine Sykes presides.
    • Sawyer argues he was given inadequate medical care and improperly placed in isolation after being beaten in the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. His complaint says his jaw was broken, and that he should have received immediate surgery.
  • United States of America v. Eliseo Mondragon (5:24-cv-01659): property ejectment. California Central District Judge Sunshine Sykes presides.
    • The United States attempts to evict Mondragon from a lot at the Shaggy Tree Subdivision on the banks of the Colorado River north of Blythe. She has lived there since 2011. The government argues her use of the land is a trespass against the California River Indian Tribes. 

ADA

  • Darwin Boggs v. Zdas LLC (5:24-cv-01652): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Sunshine Sykes presides.
    • Boggs sues John’s Liquor Market at 16718 Valley Blvd., Fontana, on claims that they did not properly designate the ADA-accessible parking spot.
  • Cameron Harrell v. Slow Ride Enterprises, Inc. (5:24-cv-01655): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Jesus Bernal presides.
    • Harrell sues the Mercantile at 1433 CA-2, Wrightwood, on claims that they did not have any ADA-accessible parking. 
  • Dennis Cooper v. Hordyk (5:24-cv-01707 ): Americans With Disabilities Act. Unassigned.
    • Cooper sues Big Pines Barbershop, at 1453 CA-2, Wrightwood, on claims that they did not provide an access aisle wide enough for ADA standards or properly paint the ADA-designated parking space. The barbershop shares a parking lot with The Mercantile.
  • Dennis Cooper v. Service On Site Automotive (5:24-cv-01695 ): Americans With Disabilities Act. Unassigned.
    • Cooper sues Service On Site Automotive at 1370 Ross St., Wrightwood, on claims that they did not have an access aisle for a wheelchair drop-off and did not properly paint their ADA-designated parking space. The automotive shop is two buildings up the road from the Mercantile and Big Pines Barbershop.
  • Darwin Boggs v. Mendoza Auto Group (5:24-cv-01677): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Jesus Bernal presides.
    • Boggs argues the auto group at 18666 Valley Blvd., Bloomington, does not properly designate its ADA-accessible parking spot.
  • Darwin Boggs v. Golden Tower Properties, LLC (5:24-cv-01685): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Jesus Bernal presides.
    • Boggs sues Espinoza’s Family Restaurant at 1503 S. Riverside Ave., Rialto, on claims that their ADA-accessible parking was not properly designated and did not have an access aisle with a level surface slope.
