A woman is suing San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department officers and the County of San Bernardino in the U.S. District Court.

Sarah Joyce Jackson alleges the officers unreasonably seized her and used excessive force while investigating a homicide.

Jackson says the officers handcuffed her in July, 2020, while searching her Redlands home for her boyfriend, who was not home at the time.

The deceased was an acquaintance of Jackson’s boyfriend, according to the complaint.

She was taken to Central Station in San Bernardino for questioning before being incarcerated for three days in the county jail in Rancho Cucamonga, but not charged.

In her suit, she alleges that when she returned home her cell phone, computer and other items were missing.

She is suing for compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $5 million.
