Riverside County prosecutors claim they have found Sherri Herrera’s killer. Herrera was a mother of four whose body was found off the eastbound Hayfield Road onramp to the I-10 in Desert Center just north of the Salton Sea on March 30, 1993.
DNA evidence connected retired truck driver Douglas Thomas, 67, to the victim’s body, according to the district attorney’s office.
The DA charged him June 10 with murder in the commission of rape.
Thomas has not
