Alex Ruiz of Colton was convicted on 16 counts of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 March 22 in Riverside Superior Court.
His convictions include three counts of aggressive sexual assault on a minor, 12 counts of lewd acts with a child under 14 with force and two counts of penetration by force. He was originally charged with 12 additional counts of lewd acts with a child under 14.
Prior to his arrest, Ruiz lived by the intersection of South Riverside Avenue and West Randall Avenue in Fontana, according to the Fontana Police Department’s announcement of his arrest Dec. 19, 2018.
Police reportedly found over 800 child pornographic pictures and videos.
The District Attorney’s Office declined to comment until sentencing. Ruiz’ attorney has not yet replied to our request for comment.
Sentencing is scheduled May 26.
The conviction came after seven days of trial, two years after the complaint was originally filed.
