Deputy County Counsel Jessica Morgan will join the San Bernardino bench.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced her appointment July 28.

Morgan has served as deputy county counsel since 2015, according to the Governor’s Office. She was a staff attorney at Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, Inc., from 2007 until she joined the county. She is a nationally certified child welfare specialist, and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California School of Law. Morgan joined the California Bar in 2004.

She fulfills a new position created July 1, 2022.

After her appointment, San Bernardino Superior Court still has six judicial vacancies and needs 30 more judicial officers to meet its caseload, according to the court’s release.

“We are enthusiastic with the Governor’s judicial appointment and look forward to our continued partnership to fill critical vacancies within our county,” San Bernardino Presiding Judge R. Glenn Yabuno said, according to the press release.
