According to the Federal Communication Commission political text messages (robo-texts) sent using an autodialer to multiple cellphones require the recipients’ “prior express consent.” (But campaigns may text a cell phone manually without prior consent.)

The Federal Election Commission further requires political texts to include disclosures, including identifying who paid for and authorized the message.

To opt out of future texts, reply with the message “stop.”

To report a sender for robo-texting, forward the text to 7726 (or “SPAM”), and/or click here to file an informal complaint with the FCC.
