Orange Judge Jeffrey Ferguson’s murder trial ended March 10 in an 11-1 vote in favor of guilt.
Ferguson, a former prosecutor, was charged with the fatal shooting of his wife. Ferguson confessed to the shooting in an interview room video published by Inside Edition.
“I killed her. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, convict my ass. I did it,” Ferguson said.
In a conversation with Inside Edition following the jury deadlock, Ferguson said that was just his way of coping with the reality.
“These thoughts are tumbling out of you. You’re trying to comprehend it yourself, I was trying to process what had happened,” Ferguson told Inside Edition.
“I wasn’t angry at her. I loved her. We were just bickering like Lucy and Desi. I didn’t murder her. I would never do that,” Ferguson said.
The case will be retried.
Pretrial is set for March 13.
Case No. 23NF1975
