Twenty states and the District of Columbia have sued The Department of Education, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and President Donald Trump over their stated firings of 1,738 Department of Education employees.

The complaint, filed March 13, alleges the firings are in actuality and intent an unconstitutional dismantling of the Department of Education. The DOE has only 4,133 people, and the firings constitute a reduction of 42%.
