State and local public health departments are now required to publicly post and maintain email lists for all new COVID-19 related orders or mandatory guidance.
SB 336 requires the state of California to help businesses and residents understand and prepare for any future COVID regulations and guidance changes.
The new law was written by State Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R-Redlands), who expressed frustration with the whiplash business owners experienced with changing guidelines.
“It was clear we needed better communication,” she said by phone Monday.
Business owners were trying to keep up with mandates, but with the rules changing, they were searching online to find what they were required to do, Ochoa Bogh said.
She introduced the bill Feb. 8, and Gov. Gavin Newsom signed it Oct. 4. It became effective immediately. The law repeals itself the first January in which there are no orders or mandatory guidance.
