In honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Follow Our Courts reached out to former San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos for information about human trafficking in our area.

“We started our fight against human trafficking in 2009. I reached out to then-San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, who flew in for our first countywide meeting. From there we created
1. C.A.S.E. Coalition against sexual exploitation. Formed with several county departments and an executive director to help victims of trafficking.
2. The first countywide human trafficking task force, lead by our Sheriff’s Department.
3. A human trafficking specialized prosecution unit.
4. A girls court in the juvenile division of the courts to help with our younger victims.
