The John B. Surr Award is awarded to the member of the legal community who has best exemplified the high standards of the profession and the administration of justice. It’s not an annual award, rather it is awarded when there is an attorney who stands out as a worthy recipient.
Surr, who was born in 1906, died in 1971 climbing Mount San Bernardino. The award was established in 1978 to honor his memory as a “distinguished lawyer, respected citizen, devoted conservationist (who was) admired by all who knew him,” according to SBCBA.
The incoming president is John W. Short.
Also to be installed will be President-elect Michael R Abacherli, Vice President Justin H. King, secretary-treasurer Diana J. Carloni, immediate past president Barbara A. Keough, and directors-at-large David P. Colella, Joyce M. Holcomb, R. Sam Price, Shelby T. Shelton, Lisa DeLorme, Stephen P. Levine, Robert I. Vines and Scafiddi.
The event will be April 21 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at The Mitten Building, at 345 N. Fifth St. in Redlands.
Individual tickets cost $80. Sponsorships, which include a link on the SBCBA website and acknowledgement in the event program and video, are available and range from $200 (which includes a seat at the event) to $2,000, (which includes a 10-seat table).
Registration forms are online here and must be submitted by April 15.
