Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye tested positive for COVID-19 and is exhibiting mild symptoms according to a statement from the California Supreme Court clerk June 6.

The clerk reports Cantil-Sakauye is fully vaccinated and had received two booster shots.

The Chief Justice will be working in isolation in accordance with state and local health guidelines, but did not participate in remote oral argument June 7.  

The Supreme Court has drawn up a stipulated order that would permit the Chief Justice to participate by reviewing the recordings.
