Every year, Americans undertake the challenge of writing an entire novel during the month of November. The observance of National Novel Writing Month is often called NaNoWriMo. In honor of this, Follow Our Courts draws your attention to seven legal issues participants should be aware of.

In her article, 7 Legal Issues All Writers Should Avoid, by Lucy Taylor, a legal expert at LY Lawyers, advises the following:

  • Avoid plagiarism
  • Credit sources
  • Credit anyone that helps you
  • Avoid defamation
  • When in doubt, make it fiction
  • Copyright your content
  • Secure ironclad contracts.
