Lenita Skoretz has been appointed to a judgeship in San Bernardino Superior Court.
The family law attorney has been a sole practitioner since she joined the bar in 1997, according to the governor’s office.
Skoretz has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law, and a Master of Arts in history from Andrews University in Michigan.
She fills a vacancy created by Judge Bryan Foster’s retirement.
“We are extremely grateful to the governor and Secretary (Luis) Céspedes for their continued commitment to addressing the judicial needs of our county,” Presiding Judge R. Glenn Yabuno said in a statement. “We congratulate Ms. Skoretz and look forward to working with her.”
Skoretz handled family law cases and probate, including divorces, child custody, restraining orders, adoption and child support with an office in Redlands.
San Bernardino Superior Court still has four funded judge vacancies, and needs 30 more judges to meet its caseload, according to the court.
