Kathleen Curtis was appointed to a judgeship in San Bernardino Superior Court, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office announced May 3.

Curtis joined the district attorney’s office in 2012, according to the governor’s office. She holds a Master of Public Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Juris Doctor degree from American University, Washington College of Law, according to the office. She joined the California State Bar in 2009.

As a prosecutor, Curtis has filed multiple complaints alleging sex crimes against children.

Curtis filed a complaint against Antwun Jackson Oct. 1, 2020, accusing the Lancaster man of three felony counts of pedophilia. Additional felony pedophile charges were added, and Jackson pleaded guilty to four of them. He is being held in the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran.

On May 28, 2020, Curtis filed a complaint against Fontana A.B. Miller High School basketball coach Jovon Jenkins, alleging three pedophilic felony counts. Jenkins pleaded not guilty, and the case is ongoing.

On March 15, 2021, Curtis filed a complaint against Loma Linda man George Holcomb alleging three felony counts of sexual acts with a child younger than 10 and two counts relating to children and pornography. Holcomb pleaded not guilty, and the case is not resolved.

She is listed as a member of the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association.

Curtis fills the vacancy created by Judge Lorenzo Balderrama’s retirement.
