Judges at San Bernardino Superior Court voted David Brewster, the court’s deputy director of operations over probate, onto the bench March 21.

Brewster will serve as a commissioner, managing a court docket and resolving cases. Unlike a judge, he will not be able to oversee trials without the consent of both parties.

Brester joined the bar in 1997, after graduating from the University of San Diego School of Law.

“We are thrilled to welcome Commissioner David Brewster to the San Bernardino Bench,” said Presiding Judge Lisa Rogan in a press release.

Brewster fills the commissioner vacancy left by Cecilia Joo. Joo was appointed to a judgeship by Gov. Gavin Newsom March 18.

“Commissioner David Brewster has been a valued member of our team, and we look forward to working with him in his new capacity,” said Court Executive Officer Anabel Romero.
