In 2018 California voters approved Prop. 7 to allow the California Legislature to eliminate the back and forth between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time. And yet, today we turned our clocks ahead an hour.
The proposition, which needed two-thirds of the voters to support it on the ballot, passed with 59.7% of the vote, according to the California Secretary of State.
Prop. 7 itself did not eliminate the time-change practice; its passage makes it possible now for a legislator to introduce a bill that would do so.
In 2019, Assemblymember Kansen Chu (D-San Jose) submitted AB 7 in order to
