San Bernardino Superior Judge Khymberli Apaloo was elected as new president of the California Judges Association May 3.

“I feel deeply connected to CJA’s mission, and the people we serve,” said Apaloo, according to a press release. “It is a true honor to serve in this role, and I am committed to working with my peers across the state to further our mission and better serve California’s citizens.”

Apaloo was appointed by former Gov. Jerry Brown on Dec. 5, 2013. From 2012 to 2013, she was a commissioner—a judge-appointed role that manages court cases similar to judges. She manages civil limited and unlimited cases.
