Juanita E. Mantz, an attorney with Riverside County, recently celebrated the launch of her book “Portrait of a Deputy Public Defender, or How I Became a Punk Rock Lawyer,” published in August by Bamboo Dart Press.

It’s a hybrid memoir/social justice essay/poetry chapbook about her work in the criminal system and her quest to challenge mass incarceration policies and the intersection with punk music.
