A Lake Elsinore man was sentenced to nine years in prison and $490,500 in restitution after he was found guilty of mail fraud and wire fraud. He and his co-conspirators defrauded at least 17 elderly victims of thousands of dollars by pretending to be federal agents and threatening to arrest them on made-up warrants, according to the indictment against him.

Anuj Mahendrabhai Patel, also known as Mike and Indio, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud in March.

He participated in an international conspiracy with Indian co-conspirators and two couriers, according to the indictment.
