ProSe Legal, a legal-document service, is now available for people in the Calimesa, Beaumont, Cherry Valley area.

The office opened in Calimesa May 16.

“There are many many services that attorneys provide that don’t need to be handled by an attorney,” said Jaynie Boren, ProSe’s chief operating officer. “You could do it yourself if you had the capabilities. You can get documents online and complete them and file them if you have the aptitude to do that.”
She says ProSe is an option for those who don’t feel comfortable with that.

“You can work with a legal assistant and make sure (your documents) are done correctly at a much lower cost than going to an attorney. Quite honestly we have attorneys that refer to us, because it’s convenient and less expensive for people to use a service like ours.”

ProSe services include documentation for divorce, child support, custody arrangements, marriage settlements, domestic violence restraining orders, paternity orders, wills and trusts, probate, deeds, corporations, LLCs and LLPs.

The staff will stay with clients until their issue is resolved, and make referrals to any other services that may need to get involved.

For residents of the Calimesa area, this opening represents access to help many people need, Boren said. The office is in a shopping center with a grocery store, fast food and a coffee house.

“It’s a lot more convenient for them to be able to complete documents in a local setting,” Boren said. “It’s right there. They’re going grocery shopping and they can stop by and see our LDA (legal document assistant) or make an appointment. We will help them with everything from planning their estate, getting a will or getting a restraining order.”

A grand opening will be in June, but the doors are open and business has begun.

“We had our first walk-in the other day,” Boren said. “It went great. They had been served some papers the day before. They didn’t know what they were going to do. Jennifer (one of the legal document assistants) took care of it. She took care of it same day.”

For some services, walk-ins can be accommodated, but for others staff may only be able to do a consultation. Boren recommends making an appointment.

“It makes it easier on the clients. They’re not waiting on anything,” she said. “We can do things partially remote if they prefer that, and then they only have to come in one time for signing their documents.”

The business began with an office in Ontario in 2021. A second office opened shortly afterward in Redlands. A fourth office will open in Eastvale this summer, and a fifth will open in Rancho Mirage later this year.

The Calimesa office is at 1032 Cherry Valley Boulevard, Suite 330.
