The San Bernardino County District Attorney has filed murder charges against a Bloomington teen for allegedly selling opioids to a Highland teen who died from an overdose.

Alfred Urrea, 19, pleaded not guilty to the charges Sept. 22. Adrian Alloway, the alleged victim, died Aug. 23.

Urrea is the second defendant in San Bernardino County to face murder chargers from fentanyl distribution.

“In cases such as this, where murder is alleged, we believe we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt the dealer knowingly understood the dangers of fentanyl, and still chose profits over human life when supplying drugs to the victim,” District Attorney Jason Anderson said in a press release.

The DA’s complaint says Urrea was on probation or parole, and that the transaction may have been a hate crime. It also says he may have used a minor during the sale, and may have threatened witnesses. He is held at Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center. Bail is set at $1 million.

The DA first charged someone with murder through fentanyl sales in April 2021, when he accused Pomona resident Bryan Anaya-Esquivel, then-18-years-old, of selling fentanyl to and murdering a 17-year-old Chino Hills resident. Anaya-Esquivel pleaded not guilty to those charges. A trial date is not set. He is represented by a public defender.
