The Redlands Chamber of Commerce will hold a legislative forum and luncheon March 17 for elected officials to talk about their actions on various topics. The event will be on the University of Redlands campus.

Reps. Pete Aguilar and Jay Obernolte, State Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa-Bogh, Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gomez Reyes, Assembly Member James Ramos, San Bernardino County Supervisor Dawn Rowe and Redlands Mayor Eddie Tejeda will participate.

“This is not a debate, and it’s not a candidate’s forum,” said Redlands Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Evan Sanford by phone Feb. 9. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to hear from our elected officials at various levels of government talk about what they’re doing, and update you on local topics related to our community.”

LEGISLATIVE FORUM

When: March 17 from at noon. Check-in begins at 11:15 a.m.

Where: University of Redlands, in the Orton Center, at 1200 E. Colton Ave. in Redlands

How: Tickets are available at RedlandsChamber.org/forum/

A moderator will take one topic at a time, giving each official a chance to talk about what their office is doing to address it. There will be six to eight topics, such as homelessness, housing and others.

Then there will be an opportunity for attendees to submit questions.

“We’re trying to put a lot of information together for those who are attending,” Sanford said. “We are creating opportunities for local residents, Chamber of Commerce members and students to get to know their legislators, feel like they’re in the know and care more about these topics through exposure to them.

“This is a chance to bring (government officials) to the people they represent. This is exactly what the Chamber should be doing, and I’m proud to offer it to the public.”

Tickets are available on the Chamber website, and cost $40 for Redlands Chamber of Commerce members, $50 for non-members and $20 for students, and the cost includes lunch.
