Riverside Superior Court has appointed Jason Galkin as court executive officer, according to a press release from the court.
The court executive officer is responsible for administering the court’s 1,200 employees and 75 judges.
Galkin served as CEO at Nevada County since 2019, and as CEO in Colusa County from 2016 to 2018, according to Transparent California.
“I am honored and humbled to have been selected by the judges of Riverside Superior Court to serve as the Court’s next Court Executive Officer,” he said in the release.
Galkin started working for the courts as a contract and procurement analyst in Orange County Superior Court in 2015.
He is also a licensed attorney. He joined the bar in 2010, and received his law degree from Southwestern Law School.
Galkin serves as a commissioner on the California State Bar’s Legal Services Trust Fund Commission. He received a graduate certificate in judicial administration from California State University, Sacramento, in 2016, where he serves as faculty.
Galkin was named the youngest court executive officer in California history by Sacramento State.
Weldon Samuel Hamrick had served as Riverside Superior Court CEO for nine years before Galkin’s appointment, according to the court. He announced his retirement Nov. 15.
Marita Ford, chief deputy of finance and human resources, chief financial officer and public information officer has served as interim CEO since Jan. 1.
Galkin’s last salary was $183,404 in regular pay and $87,000 in benefits. Hamrick’s last reported salary was $250,000 in regular pay and $20,700 in benefits.
