Supervising Deputy District Attorney Cecilia Joo will join San Bernardino Superior Court as a commissioner, the court announced Sept. 18.

Court commissioners are appointed by judges of the court, and can preside over cases if approved by the litigants and the preexisting judge. They can handle cases as temporary judges, and hear matters in most areas of law. They receive an annual salary of $207,000.

Joo joined the California State Bar in June 2007, and spent her career at the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office. She was promoted supervising deputy district attorney in 2018.

She graduated from the University of La Verne, College of Law, and from the University of California, Irvine, with a Bachelor of Arts in political science.
