Oscar Mejia of Chino was sentenced Dec. 4 to 120 years to life after being convicted by jury of eight counts of pedophilia.

Mejia appealed his case Dec. 4.

His attorney has not returned a request for comment.

Mejia abused three girls in his family, the youngest being 18 months old, the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office said in a press release.

The abuse occurred from 1996 to 1999. He used lies, verbal abuse and manipulated religious doctrine to keep the victims silent, the office said.
