The family of Jason Phan have retained lawyers to file suit against Chino High School.

Jason, an incoming freshman, drowned at a June 28 football team swim party on school grounds.

He survived in Orange County’s Children’s Hospital until June 30.

“It is crucial for us to find out what transpired that day to bring some measure of closure and justice to Jason’s family,” said the family’s attorney, Cory Weck of McCune Law Group, in a press release. “We are committed to holding those responsible accountable and to ensuring the safety of all students in similar environments.”

The family has not yet filed their claim for damages. They are still investigating. In their press release, they encouraged people with information about Jason’s death to reach out to the McCune Law Group office.
