Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Commissioner Mickie Reed and attorney Michael Martin to open judicial seats in Riverside Superior Court Feb. 14.
Reed has been a commissioner since 2014. Court commissioners are judicial officers appointed by a vote of a court’s judges.
She worked as a professor at the California Desert Trial Academy from 2014 to 2018, was a sole practitioner from 1996 to 2014, and was a planning commissioner for Indio from 2004 to 2010. She graduated from the Western State University School of Law.
Martin has been lead appellate court attorney at the Second District Court of Appeal, Division 6, in Ventura, since 2017. He was an adjunct professor at the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law and the University of California College of Law, San Francisco. He worked as a legal research assistant at San Francisco Superior Court from 2014 to 2017, and was a contract attorney at Valdez Todd & Doyle, Horowitz & Tigerman, Podo Legal and the Law Office of E. Craig Moody.
He graduated from University of California College of Law, San Francisco.
