- The family of Antonio Garza are suing the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department after Garza was fatally shot by sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 5, 2023. The complaint says Garza had a mental health issue, and was running away from the police when he was shot. The deputies arrived after receiving a report Garza was burning items on his Yucca Valley property, the complaint says.

- Robert Dilworth v. County of San Bernardino (5:23-cv-01879 ): Civil rights. Unassigned.
- Dilworth, a West Valley Detention Center inmate, claims sheriff’s deputies took his removable cast during a shakedown of the cells. He claimed he fractured his arm when he fell off the steps of a bus that transported him from the West Valley Detention Center to the Rancho Cucamonga courthouse on June 22, 2022. The cast was provided by physicians at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Because he did not have the cast, he was unable to undergo surgery to fix his arm, and he is now unable to move his right ring finger, he claims.
