    • A man’s case against the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office has been reopened. He will file an amended complaint. Roger Parker claims his civil rights were violated when he was jailed for a murder for months after the DA’s Office discovered another man’s confession.
  • Nelson Chilin v. Magic Lamp Partners, LLC (5:23-cv-01905): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Sunshine Sykes presides.
    • Chilin claims the Magic Lamp Inn, a restaurant at 8189 Foothill Blvd. in Rancho Cucamonga, violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. He claims he visited the restaurant around June 2023, and that the parking lot did not have van accessible parking up to ADA standards. Yelp reviewers reported the restaurant closed prior to June. Their phone number does not work, and their website is insecure.
  • Raul Uriarte Limon v. Rysh Realty Group LP (5:23-cv-01919): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Sunshine Sykes presides.
    • Limon claims Highland’s Royal Smoke Shop does not have parking up to ADA standards.
  • Dennis Cooper v. Sterling Liquor Inc (5:23-cv-01930): Americans With Disabilities Act. California Central District Judge Jesus Bernal presides.
    • Cooper claims a liquor store on 7272 Sterling Ave., San Bernardino, violates the ADA by not having parking up to ADA standards.
  • Jennifer Yang v. Herbert Pan (5:23-cv-01904): Racketeering (RICO) Act. California Central District Judge Sunshine Sykes presides.
    • Yang claims Pan has been operating an illegal multi-level marketing business called IHealth that targets Chinese-Americans.
  • Jaiswal v. Dickey’s BarAshwani Jaiswalbeque Restaurants, Inc. (5:23-cv-01921): Breach of contract. Unassigned.
    • A Beaumont man who owns Dickey’s franchises in Temecula, Beaumont and Moreno Valley is suing Dickey’s on causes of price fixing and collecting more than their share of money.
  • Acevedo v. County of Riverside (5:23-cv-01922): Civil Rights Act. Unassigned.
    • Constantino Acevedo claims he was improperly beaten and arrested by sheriff’s deputies while suffering delirium from a severe kidney failure on Sept. 22, 2021. His complaint says he was released on midnight Sept. 24, 2021, without knowledge of his kidney failure.
  • Constantino Joshua Acevedo v. City of Fontana (5:23-cv-01923): Civil Rights Act. California Central District Judge Jesus Bernal presides.
    • Acevedo claims he was still acting erratically due to his kidney failure on the morning of Sept. 24, 2021. He claims he was spraying his hose on the front lawn of his house, jumping up and down, and praying. Fontana police arrived, and saw his pants fall down, because he was emaciated. The police moved to arrest him, and used what Acevedo says was excessive and potentially deadly force to do so. He was taken to Fontana’s Kaiser Permanente, where he was diagnosed as having severe kidney failure. He brings chargers for excessive force, failure to intervene and city liability.
