- Nine former inmates, some of whom were incarcerated at the California Institute for Women near Chino, sue for damages resulting from their forced sterilization through the prison system. Three women who were incarcerated at CIW say their ovaries were removed without consent in 2001, 2006 and 2012, when they went into surgery for fibroid removal. Another says she was sterilized without her consent when her doctor gave her injections intended to manage her menstruation cycle.
