- Mayfield was incarcerated at San Bernardino County West Valley jail, in Rancho Cucamonga. At 7:12 a.m., July 8, three inmates opened their cell doors and beat and stabbed Mayfield, the lawsuit alleges. Mayfield was sent to the hospital. Despite being the victim, Mayfield was disciplined. The inmate discipline report against him did not mention the stabbing, or how the inmates were able to pop open their cell dors, the lawsuit claims.
